Fifteen dedicated volunteers turned out for our January work session, undeterred by the cold. Storm Goretti had thankfully passed us by, though a yellow ice warning meant conditions were still chilly first thing – appropriately, we noticed steam rising off the frozen gate as the morning sun warmed it, which made for an interesting start to the day.
With the breeding season fast approaching, the team’s main focus was on the bird boxes around the site, making sure they were ready before nesting begins. Alongside this, volunteers also carried out repairs to a couple of the site’s steps
As always, plenty of visitors stopped by for a chat while we worked, a great reminder of just how well loved and well used Maes y Pant is by the local community. A huge thank you to all our volunteers who give up their time to help keep the site in such great shape.
