Maes y Pant

Code of Use

Maes y Pant was acquired by Maes y Pant / Hollowfield Action Group Limited to manage on behalf of the community. Charity No. 1169422, Company Limited by Guarantee No. 06221374

Members of the public are invited to use the property for walking, dog walking, jogging and similar leisure activities provided they behave with due consideration for other users and wildlife.


Children

Children must be under the supervision of a responsible adult at all times.

Parents, guardians, carers, teachers and group leaders are responsible for the safety and behaviour of children in their care.


Access and Opening Hours

The site is open during daylight hours only.

Access between dusk and dawn is prohibited.

Visitors are reminded that Maes y Pant is an area of rough woodland with uneven ground, steep slopes and natural hazards. Appropriate care should be taken at all times.

Entry to the site is entirely at the user’s own risk.


Respect Other Visitors

Please be considerate of other people using the site.

  • Respect other visitors’ enjoyment of the woodland.
  • Avoid behaviour that may cause nuisance, alarm or distress.
  • Follow all site signage and notices.
  • Comply with any temporary restrictions or closures.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome at Maes y Pant.

Dog owners must:

  • Keep dogs under proper control at all times.
  • Keep dogs on a lead in signed Dog Control Areas.
  • Prevent dogs from disturbing wildlife or other visitors.
  • Remove and properly dispose of all dog waste.

Cycling

Cyclists are welcome on designated paths and routes.

Cyclists must:

  • Follow designated cycling routes.
  • Ride responsibly and at an appropriate speed.
  • Give priority to pedestrians at all times.
  • Take extra care when approaching other users.

Protecting the Woodland

To protect the site and its wildlife:

  • Do not damage, remove or interfere with trees, shrubs, plants or wildlife habitats.
  • The cutting, lopping or removal of trees, shrubs or bushes is strictly prohibited.
  • Do not dig, excavate or alter the ground.
  • The excavation or creation of artificial hazards, ramps, tracks or jumps is strictly prohibited.
  • Do not interfere with site infrastructure, fences, signs or facilities.

Any person found carrying out such activities may be reported to the police for prosecution for criminal damage.


Litter

Please help keep Maes y Pant clean and safe.

  • Do not leave litter.
  • Take all waste home or dispose of it responsibly.
  • Fly tipping is prohibited and will be reported to the relevant authorities.

Fires and Barbecues

To protect visitors, wildlife and woodland habitats:

  • Fires are strictly prohibited.
  • Barbecues are strictly prohibited.
  • Fireworks, sky lanterns and similar items are prohibited.

Prohibited Activities

The following activities are not permitted anywhere on the site:

  • The use of firearms.
  • The use of air weapons.
  • The use of bows and arrows.
  • The use of slings or catapults.
  • The setting of snares or traps.
  • Any activity that may endanger wildlife, livestock or other visitors.

Vehicles

Motor vehicles are only permitted where specifically authorised.

The recreational use of motorcycles, quad bikes or other powered vehicles is prohibited.


Rights of Way

There are no public rights of way over the property and there is no intention by the landowner or Maes y Pant Action Group to create or dedicate any such rights.

Access to the site is granted subject to compliance with this Code of Use.

Control of Dogs

Please note that when walking dogs, it is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that dogs are under control at all times.

Please report any incidents to the Police (call 101) or to a board member, along with descriptions, vehicle numbers and any relevant information where possible.

Dog Owners - We appreciate and encourage dog owners cleaning up after their pets, but please don’t leave the bags lying around on the land. There are two bins at the Pant Lane entrance and one at Whiteway Drive where the bags can be deposited. Thank you for your cooperation!
